So you’ve probably noticed some strange goings on here at RealityTVFan.org, to cut a long story short — in a half asleep daze I decided it would be a good idea to ‘tidy’ my account and accidentally deleted my main wordpress database and files.
I spent a few hours trying to retrieve it but couldn’t so bit the bullet and paid for my host to do it for me, they eventually got back to me to let me know they couldn’t do it either as my site does not get backed up by them any more as it’s too big.
16 hours and much frustration later I did manage to get the database back, but not the files. But the database is the most important thing, the files I can redo and start adding back and things should be back to normal within a few days.
Here’s what I learned yesterday:
* It is not a good idea to ‘tidy’ my files when I am sleepy.
* Backup, Backup and then when you think you’ve got a recent enough backup, backup again.
* Backup your backups.
* Twitter is a great way to keep people updated as even when my site is down everyone can still access that, so follow me @RealityTVFan 
Here’s what it all means for the site:
* New shows will start getting added again today, but it may take me a few days to catch up so go easy.
* None of the plugins work so you might be missing some of your favourite features for a few days.
* Post notification is not working and will remain disabled until every thing is caught up so no emails to let you know about new posts for the next few days, you’ll have to use the good old fashioned method of either coming here to check for new posts or rss.
Thanks to every one for the supportive messages yesterday, much appreciated and probably saved me a handful of extra grey hairs
