thanks so much, seriously, as someone living in Europe it can be fucking tiring to find Bravo shows on the internet, thank you for uploading this!
June 24th, 2010 at 6:35 pm
Oh Jaclyn.. you're a wee bit clueless.
June 24th, 2010 at 6:47 pm
most of them made pictures that look absolutely unrelated to the novel, haven't they ever seen what a book cover looks like? lame
I'm disappointed about dracula's covers, you can do awesome stuff with that theme, blood, sensuality, pointy teeth, darkness. Although the fat guy's dracula cover was decent, it could be so much edgier

What Jimmy said. I'm without cable and this is a godsend. Thanks so much!!

Thank you soooooo much for posting this!!!! Its my dream reality tv show!!!!
I love Miles!!!
June 24th, 2010 at 9:31 pm
Thanks so much for uploading this. Love, love , love this show!
I completely agree with the judges on the winner this time. The runner-up's work seemed more like a movie poster than a book cover to me.
June 24th, 2010 at 10:02 pm
So into this show. I think the right winner was chosen – I want that book with that cover! I too am loving Miles – his installation/performance was something very similar to what I did in my art degree show. Thanks for uploading these!

Thank you so much! I really love the show! I agree with the top 2 but I think the version marc had when the mentor came to see him was better than the final version…but I still liked his cover a lot.

Its pretty insulting to graphic designers to let artists mess with type. seriously. bad. http://observatory.designobserver.com/entry.html?…
maybe let the artists do the pictures but leave typography to the professionals.

Thanks for this. Bravo never plays reruns when I can watch them.
Judith's piece seriously looked like a travel brochure I made in my high school Spanish class. Complete with the two tone background and black and white bubble letters.

One question: Since this week when I click Read More I get redirected to a page that will show only the adds but no video. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to download an update or something? I've been watching shows here for years and that has never happened befor. Thanks so much for posting, don't get Bravo where I live.

Thank you so much for posting this show, I was one of the people who asked you about this on your Q&A, so it's great to see you taking the risk to post it.
June 25th, 2010 at 9:56 am
Why is it insulting? Why shouldn't artists do type? Am I missing something here?
June 25th, 2010 at 12:31 pm
thank u!!!

I really hated the winner's piece. I buy lots of books and I would NEVER EVER pick that one up. And I thought it was really lame how the judges penalized some of the other contestants for not relating to the story. Have they read the books?! The novel is way too dark for the winning cover art. Bad choice!

So funny when they talk about the misspelling of Jane Austen, they totally oversee the misspelling of H.G Wells, it is not H.C. Wells. Anyone else notice that?

19.36 part 3 (episode 3)
P.s. thanks for Denmark for uploading
June 28th, 2010 at 5:58 pm
AGREED!!! It was pathetic.
June 29th, 2010 at 2:47 am
I think that is actually supposed to be a "G" but the style makes it look like a "C". If you look really closely there is a tiny little stroke that makes is a "G". But, that aside, it was a terrible cover. I actually really liked MIles' piece and I admire him for reading the book first. Pretty cool.

i liked abdi's piece. so far he's my favorite artist.
July 1st, 2010 at 8:47 am
I really liked Miles' as well, it was so cool he read the book, they sould have had an extra day to read the books.
July 15th, 2010 at 6:20 pm
I liked Miles' work process and result the most. In my opinion, he should have won this week instead of the previous one. As for the winning one… the only thing I liked about it is the tiny ladder. Otherwise it's completely generic. I would never pick this one when it's sitting between dozens of other books.
July 29th, 2010 at 11:20 am
I liked Miles' piece the best – and it so clearly DID relate to the contents of the book. For such a well known story, you don't need a cliche cover; it's enough to reference elements of the story.
The electrical wires – frankenstein being brought to life with electricity. The arrangement of the wires into something resembling a double helix – life from human engineering. And the burnt surface – the danger involved with tampering with nature, the fact that not all went as planned.
I would pick up a book with that cover in an instant.
I don't think the winner was that bad though – I just don't think it was the best.
July 30th, 2010 at 7:35 am
they picked the right winner. And loser. Mark's work is kind of generic and that made the time machine stand out even more. The loser was pretty obvious. The show was working pretty had to make us hate that old hag.
I did like the one which was described as wallpaper (though i found the critique by the pulitzer nominee quite delicious) in an ironic sense.

I thought John's winning cover was well deserved. I don't see how it was generic either. Marc's actually looked quite generic to me. And most of the other's looked pretty bad. John's cover would definitely stand out to me in a bookstore though.
August 10th, 2010 at 9:19 pm
I heart Miles.
September 29th, 2010 at 12:53 am
Hooray! I love the winning cover! I've been meaning to buy a copy of The Time Machine and I'm excited to be able to buy one with this cover! Would have liked to see something more interesting done with the Alice books but am pleased with the end result.

and thank you for not revealing any spoiler while giving ur thoughts!

I agree, I just thought that the image seemed horribly cliché. Did it look like a book cover, though? Yes it did, so yes, it deserved to be in the top three – But only because almost none of the artists understood the challenge.

You can just avoid reading the comments before you watch the show you know

I'm a graphic designer and I don't feel the least bit insulted. It sounds pretty juvenile to get offended by something like that, to be quite honest.
Oh, and grphic designers aren't necessarily good at type either. To be honest, most of us aren't. The ones who specialize in type is another matter of course.
