The Benefits of Satellite TV

Can you believe that some people still don’t have satellite TV? My parents for example, they say that they can’t see the point as they don’t watch too much TV any way – but there are so many more benefits to satellite TV than just the 1000s of extra channels you can pick up.

HD programming is here and satellite is much more capable of displaying it to us as it is intended than anything else, the picture quality via satellite is usually second to none. There’s also the fact coverage is much greater so if you find yourself in an area where cable signals are limited you’ll be much less likely to run into the same problem with satellite TV services.

You can often find some killer dish network promotions if you don’t already have satellite TV and are looking to get with the rest of us in the 21st century ;)

You can get some really good looking dish network packages from dish network ranging from $19.99 to $89.99 per month – I am sure that most people who love watching TV as much as we all do would be able to find a package that suits their pockets and their needs.

I can’t imagine how anyone could live without it!

Hoping the USA knock us out early

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of WorldCupCompanions. All opinions are 100% mine.

Banner-250x250Any football fans among you? Me? Not so much – I have never really seen the appeal in many sports – but football especially, to me it’s just (hot) men running around on a field kicking a ball for no real reason. I am actually not looking forward to the World Cup 2010 because I know it means I will be in for many busy nights at work!

I have said this to sports fans including my other half who loves the world cup and was seriously considering going to South Africa this year to watch live. He scoffs at me and points out that I love watching Reality TV and even often have a flutter on certain shows, and reality TV is often just people sitting around in a house literally doing nothing – which is a valid point. I guess people just like what they like and there’s not too much logic behind it.

I will probably root for the USA rather than the UK when the time comes just because the sooner we are knocked out the better. According to the World Cup odds I was just looking at on Worldcupcompanions.com they don’t stand much of a chance of winning the whole thing though, but with odds of 66/1 it’d be a pretty sweet little bonus if I did win – I always figure if you are going to have a bet you may as well try for a big win :)

Clear your debts

Thanks to a lot of hard work and a good debt consolidation my other half and I are going to be debt free in a few months time – it’s been a long time coming. He has been in debt the entire time we have been together and when we moved in together his debts became my debts I suppose.

It’s going to be amazing, the feeling of knowing that every single penny we earn is ours (well, less the tax mans cut!) and half of it won’t be going to pay off the debts he got into for no real reason – he was just irresponsible with money and bought stuff he didn’t need. Then when he couldn’t pay off one credit card bill he went out and got another one!

I am glad those days are behind us, we don’t do credit now at all. If we can’t afford it we don’t get it, simple as that.

Dreaming of Summer

My annual summer vacation rental seems like a lifetime away still. As I look outside right now at the fog, rain and snow – I really can’t wait until June when I can head for a relaxing few days in the sun :)

I just saw the funny vacation rental commercial at Vacation Rental.org which is what has made me yearn for my trip away. The video features the rather inept superhero ‘UNITARD’ getting caught on camera trying to stop a family from making a mistake in booking an expensive hotel room when they could rent out an entire apartment for a similar price!

Webhosting Geeks: making it simple to find a webhost

Some of you may remember the problems I had with my old webhost, most of the issues were caused by them not being able to handle the amount of traffic RealityTVFan.org was receiving – they kept telling me I would have to pay for a dedicated hosting account as no shared webhosting provider would be able to accept my site.

After much searching and headaches and site downtime I discovered my new host Hostgator, and over a year later now I just want to praise them and say that aside from a few issues which were dealt with quickly and are to be expected with running any large website – they’ve been great! No major issues, no major dramas, just smooth sailing :)

I am pleased about this because finding a new host can be a massive pain. My recent search for a new ISP reminded me of how stressful it can be – it’s just like the online version of moving house I suppose!

Sites like WebhostingGeeks.com are an absolute godsend if you are looking for new web hosting. They list all of the well known hosts and compare them for you, simply having a list of all the ‘main players’ in the hosting scene in one place saves you hours of searching in itself – but to then be able to easily compare what they offer and see real reviews and ratings made of them by people who have actually used the services is priceless. They even monitor a sites uptime and display it in a graph!

They have a blog dedicated to web hosting news, guides, security issues and much more.

Webhosting Geeks has been around since 2004 so it has a large database of reviews, ratings and webhosts making it a must use resource if you need new hosting, so go ahead and check them out if that’s you :)
