The Biggest Loser - UK Series set to return in 2009

Big news for Biggest Loser UK fans, it’s coming back! Honestly I thought this was axed for good, but it’s been picked up by ITV and even more excitingly it’s going to follow the Australian format of being on nightly rather than just once a week. Awesome.

The bad news is that as it’s ITV it’s most likely I won’t be able to post it, ITV are one of the stations that usually get their shows taken down asap — but I will definitely give it a try

ITV1 has commissioned Britain’s Biggest Loser, a daily weight-loss show based on the original US format.

Loser follows the lives of dramatically overweight people as they undertake a strict diet and exercise regime in order to shed pounds. Participants begin in couples, but ultimately only one person can walk away with the cash prize.

A UK version was previously made for Living TV in 2005 and fronted by Vicki Butler-Henderson. It was axed after two series, with eventual I’d Do Anything champ Jodie Prenger winning the second series.

The Biggest Loser format has been adapted in 25 different territories including Australia, Brazil and the Middle East.

ITV daytime controller Adam McDonald said of the commission: “I’m thrilled that this global smash is now coming to ITV1. The phrase ‘life changing show’ is overused in telly but this compassionate, compelling format does just that.”

Executive producer Karen Smith added: “Britain’s Biggest Loser is much more than a reality show, it is a daily, real-life soap opera with inspiring personal journeys and unbelievable transformations which are life changing.”

Site News - Back in Business

Well hurrah, it seems that the site issues of the last week are finally behind me. Now that I know you guys can view the site again it’s time to get caught up! I will take this opportunity to address several things in 1.

* The Subscribe to categories feature is currently disabled. That means if you are subscribed to receive email notifications when new posts are added you currently will not be getting them — because when I moved hosts I had to import all the posts over, the script thinks they are new and wants to send out an email about every one. That’s over 2000 posts it wants to notify 400+ people about, eep, obviously I can’t let this happen, so until I find a solution the script is simply turned off…and apologies if you did get several in a row a few days ago, this was when I discovered the problem.

* Humberto mentioned in the comments that the RSS feed was not working, I believe I have now solved this but let me know if you are still experiencing problems.

Other than that I think every thing is back to how it should be now, if there’s anything you’ve discovered though please do let me know as I am not aware of it.

Next up some questions I have been getting about shows:

* Where is The Amazing Race Asia 3 episode 2?
Unfortunately the user who uploaded the first episode has not done the second one, I don’t know if they plan to or not. I have searched high and low for another source but so far have only managed to find one who has the episode uploaded and they have embedding disabled so I cannot post it here. I will keep looking for a source and if you know of one please do let me know, in the meantime you can watch episode 2 directly on this youtube channel.

* Why can’t I view some of your Big Brother UK videos any more?
Over the last week I have been receiving more and more emails each day from youtube letting me know that channel 4 have made a copyright claim and have limited access to the videos. They have blocked any one from the following countries from viewing the videos:

Guernsey, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, United Kingdom

Unfortunately this causes me a big problem, as I am from the UK — I can now no longer view my own videos. I don’t know why they suddenly have a problem with it being on youtube, I have been uploading it for years without issues and it doesn’t make sense that they’d decide now, after the show is over, to make their claims. It brings into question whether or not I will be able to post future series of Big Brother UK.

and finally…

* Can you post The Biggest Loser USA 6?
I would love to, but unfortunately cannot. I tried to do The Biggest Loser USA 5 and it was removed from youtube in a matter of hours, I tried to post it to dailymotion instead and it was removed from there. I tried to upload the first season a few months ago, but again that was removed within a few days. Some companies just don’t want their shows online and NBC is one of them — as it says in the FAQs I have no interest in playing cat and mouse with them, I post shows that I know (or hope at least) will remain online for many months to come, I don’t post shows that I know will be removed.

Site News: Current Youtube accounts 27/06/08

I have just updated the list of my youtube accounts on my about page, something that was long overdue. Be sure to take a look at it, RealityTVFan.org covers a lot of shows and there might be some here that you didn’t realise were on the site, or shows you might decide to give a go - I can recommend The Biggest Loser Australia to fans of Big Brother Australia, it’s done by the same people and is similar in many ways - it’s sort of like Big Brother for overweight people haha.

The Biggest Loser Aus 2 - and now back to the start…

Phew, job done. That’s all 51 episodes that got removed reuploaded, fingers crossed nothing happens to get them removed again and many people can enjoy the season for many months to come
Now’s the time that you need to go back to the start of my account in order to watch the rest of the season, that is already uploaded. Clicking this will take you to the page on my account that holds the first video you need in order to continue, the video is titled ‘Adventure Race / Part 1′.

The Biggest Loser Aus 2 was actually one of the first, if not the very first shows that I uploaded to youtube, so as you can probably see my naming skills weren’t too great. I gave each video a title related to what happened in it, rather than just naming by episode and part as I do now. I feel a lot of people are going to get confused with the videos as they are, so I would suggest watching them here on RealityTVFan.org rather than directly on youtube, as they are named better here. To watch on the site start from this page and watch from episode # 52 onwards.
