Site News: Sidereel issue update

Not long after I had posted the last entry about Sidereel they got back to me to apologise for the slow response and let me know they had blocked the URL(s) of the sites in question. I assume they also banned the main offender because I have not seen them since. Yay.

I wanted to wait a few days before mentioning it here so I could see what they did — I figured they’d maybe register new accounts, use a proxy, use redirect urls on their links, continue to remove other links regardless of no longer being able to post their own etc.

They are still posting their own links via redirect URLs, but they have stopped faffing about with everyone else’s links. So the problem is essentially solved.

Thanks to those of you who monitored the links and tried to help me out, and thanks to Sidereel for dealing with it :)

Site News: Got a Sidereel account?

I could do with some help from any of you lovely people who currently use Sidereel. Around a week ago I started having issues with a handful of users who own/run several sites in a similar vain to this one but don’t want to play fair, they remove all valid links to other sources or edit them so that they appear in completely the wrong section of the site so that theirs is the only one that remains.

If you don’t know how Sidereel works, it’s sort of like a wiki…if you have an account you can add, edit and remove any links, this means that it is open to abuse from people like these guys.

All actions are recorded however and can be seen on the ‘link history’ pages.

I think it all started when I removed their link to The Amazing Race episode 1, I removed it because there was no episode on the link, just a page saying that it was coming soon, — that is the only time I have ever removed any of their links, when they did not have the episode on it, despite all the abuse they have been giving me… they obviously didn’t like that so have been removing all my links since (along with others) and editing them to say offensive things or warning people not to click as my site contains spyware.

I have contacted the good folks at Sidereel via email and on their forums but so far no one has got back to me or banned the users.

So here’s what I am asking of any of you who have a sidereel account and are familiar with how to use it…please help me in undoing their sabotage when you get the chance. All you have to do is check the link history for edits by the main offender (User: lalegator) and click on ‘Re-add link’ if they have removed it, or edit the title of the link to something more appropriate if they have changed it to read something else!

The main pages they are doing it on to watch are The Amazing Race, Survivor, Survivor: Gabon and America’s Next Top Model.

Thank you, and hopefully Sidereel will pull their finger out and deal with this guy soon :)

Site News: Sidereel.com issues

I seem to be having a lot of issues with SideReel.com lately, the page hardly ever seems to load and when it does…it won’t let me log in. I know that the site is working fine for other people, so suspect they might have done something to my IP/Account - I guess they didn’t appreciate me posting my own links all the time.

So since I am no longer able to post my link there, if any of you guys have an account I’d appreciate it if you could do it on my behalf, this would really help out RealityTVFan.org and give you the chance to give something back.

The shows I usually post there currently are Big Brother 10 USA, Project Runway USA 5, Make Me A Supermodel Aus 1 and Project Runway Aus 1 and in the near future I had planned to post the upcoming seasons of The Amazing Race USA, Survivor Gabon and Americas Next Top Model.

Thanks :)
**Update**

Someone from SideReel has kindly contacted me, they assure me they have not blocked my account, site or IP address or any thing of the sort. Currently I still cannot really use the site, but it seems that the issue is either my own fault or some sort of freak bug - either way it is not deliberate, which is great to hear :)
